Charlotte picks up four new recruits for the Class of 2021

Charlotte added four new commits to the list last week as Healy’s new army of recruits continues to grow! Here is a quick overview of the four new men coming to Niner Nation.
Shyhiem Scotland
Scotland comes in for our first commit of last week from Wren High School in South Carolina. Playing at Outside Linebacker, Scotland has been named AAAA All-State and All-Regional.
Scotland has also taken on other roles such as Nickleback and Safety, along with other defensive roles. This is a solid addition to the 49ers secondary which has been a weak point in years past.
DJ Brown
Brown comes from Memphis University Highschool in Tennessee for the class of 2021. Playing at Linebacker, Brown has received offers from Wake Forest, Austin Peay, Coastal Carolina, and C-USA opponent, Middle Tennessee.
He has obviously bought into Coach Healy’s culture as he has turned down a scholarship opportunity at Coastal Carolina.
Other than the defensive side of the ball, at 230 lbs and 6’0, he has stepped in as a Wide Reciever and Tight End.
Xavier Williams
This is an exciting pick up for Charlotte as QB Xavier Williams from Colquitt County HS, Georgia. He comes from a school with a huge football tradition and will be coming with the class of 2021
By the looks of his highlight reels, I see a lot of dual-threat Chris Reynolds in Williams. His ability to rush out of the pocket and deep ball passes can find him a potential spot in Healy’s QB role. It looks like the Charlotte Head coach likes the explosive/unpredictable natured QB in the position after this pick-up.
Steven Parker
This was one of the first commits of last week as Charlotte lands another Wide Reciever with Defensive Back experience. The Senior comes from Tampa Bay Tech High School in Florida coming with the class of 2021.
He has more DB experience its seems playing the more central role and stopping the slant routes. As a receiver, he keeps the same area in a place with the slant passes. I would expect him to get more time with the defensive side of the ball for Healy’s team.
Overview
Looking ahead, Charlotte has picked up some solid men this past week who will be arriving with the class of 2021. This class is looking to make a statement with a few three-star recruits and the first four-star commit for Charlotte. This will be the ultimate test for Healy and seeing the cultural pull and attractiveness for the program, but as it looks, this team is only looking better. There is a reason by Charlotte has been at the top of the C-USA recruiting list, and this can be credited to Healy and his coaches with the culture which has come from the 49ers and #ClubLit.
This is the class and season (2021) that will begin to show the long-term impacts Healy's management of the program will begin to take place. I like to make judgments about coaches after three seasons after taking on programs in change like how Healy has taken on the 49ers. So far the future is looking extremely bright as Charlotte will one day be a powerhouse within C-USA. Healy's cultural impact will definitely be felt for a long time, but his work in recruiting is looking to be a strong point for the young coach.
